How to Start Trading as a Beginner in India
A step-by-step guide for beginners to start trading in the stock market, forex, options and futures.
Start with the right expectations
Trading is a skill, not a lottery ticket. The traders who last are the ones who treat the first six months as training, not as income.
Step 1: Open the right accounts
You need a demat account for stocks and a trading account with a SEBI-registered broker. Compare brokerage, platform stability and customer support before choosing.
Step 2: Learn to read a chart
Start with candlesticks, support and resistance, and trend structure. Do not touch indicators until you can describe what price is doing in plain words.
Step 3: Paper trade with a plan
Write down your entry, stop loss and target before every trade. Track fifty paper trades before risking real money.
Step 4: Risk small, review often
Risk no more than one percent of your capital per trade. Review your journal every weekend.
